Sculptor Pekka Kauhanen (born 1954) lives and works in Espoo, Finland.
Kauhanen is one of Finland’s leading sculptors whose works are mixing the
traditions of sculptures with fantasy. Kauhanen has pioneered many forms of
contemporary Finnish sculptures and his signature artworks set milestones to the
history of Finnish contemporary art.
Kauhanen has organized several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous
group exhibitions. Recently his proposal won the Winter War Memorial competition
organized by the Winter War Memorial Committee. The Commitee includes Ministry
of Education and Culture together with the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of
Defence, the Defence Command, the City of Helsinki, the Winter War Association,
the Mint of Finland and veteran organisations.The public sculpture will be placed on
Kasarmitori square in Helsinki.
